Yesterday I learned, from someone who has lived in this desert longer than I, a new tip (and none too soon, I might add).

During the summer months it is advisable to leave one's car windows open a smidge when parking for any extended period of time. When closed completely, the heat that builds up in the car may cause the windshield to crack.

Now, anyone who knows me knows that I will crack my windows with religious zeal each time I leave my car. This "fact" may not be a fact at all, but I'll never know because I'd rather not end up with a cracked windshield. I guess I am afraid of some things. Boogey monsters, no. Cracked windshields, yes.
